Oooh yeah, nice work - makes me wonder what could have been if I'd actually put in some serious effort into this comp thingy rather than working on everything else. Oh well. Life goes on. Enjoy your free book Trace.

Yay, Trace. Had a feeling she was going to win. :)

Yay for Trace and congratulations, it was a very well written piece. my competive nature makes me slightly envious, but hey, that is part of the joy of winning for the winner, knowing we are all slightly envious. Nicely done Trace.

I get in mental knots. Tangles. Sometimes I think I won't find my way out. I'm teetering on the edge of sanity. But I kinda like it this way.

I'm selfish and generous and kind and very cruel and clever and so stupid and artistic and dull and straight and spirally - like a slinky. I'm indecisive and so adamant (thanks Robbie). Sometimes I make good choices...well, you can guess the rest.

Here are my favorite books:

Catcher in the Rye
Blindness - Jose Saramago;
Anything by Chuck Palahniuk - especially Rant.
Angela Carter - The Bloody Chamber
Where the Wild Things Are
Lolita - Vlad Nabakov
Slaughterhouse Five Kurt Vonnegut

Here are my top ten films:

Donnie Darko
Pulp Fiction
Scarface
Gone with the Wind
Reservoir Dogs
Fight Club
Breakfast Club

That's only seven. You'll have to wait for the rest - 'til we get to know each other better.

Your stories were entertaining. Hopefully, writing them helped iron out the tendency to waffle on:)

So enthusiastic was the response, that it's hoped we can run a competition at least once a semester.

Our first fiction challenge champion is Trace for her story Flashjack. Congratulations, Trace.

Flash Fiction Challenge

Have your trench coats at the ready, peeps. We're gonna do some flashing...

Flash fiction is defined as fiction containing anywhere from 10-1000 words, although consensus appears to dictate that the upper-limit line is drawn at around 300 words.

Writing flash fiction is a fab way to hone some of the skills required for creative writing in general. It compels the writer to isolate small ideas but to represent them with strong central images. It requires the writer to begin in t… Continue

Writing Tips

This is a fab collection of writing tips.

I love writing tips. They're my friends when the flow is as painful as that of a man with prostate issues. They're my version of Confession. I go ticking through them mouthing "no", "no", "no" until I hit a "yes" and with it, the realisation that my writing soul isn't as pristine as I thought it was. Ten "Hail Marys" (or the writer's version - recitations of Shakespeare's sonnet 34) ensue. Most of all, when I read them, I feel as though I'm wor… Continue

Read my mind. But... can we have different "keywords"... and a higher word limit...? Be generous. ;)

Suggestion: Scriber-Space should have a "fairytale" month. End of suggestion.

I love the Bellmer dolls. I think this is my favourite, though I also like another that doesn't look so good squeezed into a 100x100 pixel box. I'm mostly just pleased I worked out how to add a pic!

The Importance of Being Earnest is an enthralling read so far. Thank-you highly for the recommendation, Naomi. I recall reading The Picture of Dorian Grey last year in high school. The only problem with reading Wilde is that it makes me wish I could actually write. Ah, well... baby steps, yes...?

After today's cmn116 tute, every time I think of writing anything that isn't academic, I think of you giggling with a bowl of Weetbix in the morning. Nice work. ;)

Will defiently join the QWC this week. I've been meaning to do it for quite some time but just haven't got around to it. I haven't figured out who is tutoring me, I have it on Thursday at 10, Building C G.48. As for the IM, thanks for pointing that out to me, I'm sure it will come in handy!

Yes I am doing 116. I have decided to do a Bachelor of Arts, Creative Writing.
I don't think I will miss a single lecture or tutorial in introduction to creative writing, as I know will be my favourite class this semester.
(besides uni's not cheap, why bother enrolling and paying for it all if your never going to attend the lessons an actually try and learn as much as possible) LOL....
I want to be an author.

Oh dont worry I will run...! Haha. Jokes. Well I am only 19, I finished grade 12 in 07. Had a gap year and a half where I studied at Tafe for 6 months, then worked and travelled..! Realised what direction I wanted to take my life and enrolled at USC.!
