Greatly appreciated, Natalie and Gemma. It's a real pleasure to get this feedback. It was in fact an unusally meditative kind of writing experience and I think part of that was thanks to seeing the photo again, as it reminded me of the experience of…

Alas I am a starving impoverished bohemian writer, but those magazines do sound a good find, I will keep an eye out for them when I gain employment again! I think I have bought writer's digest before. I will just stick with the QWC magazine for now…

I like this very much, it has a calming meditative effect. I was a little unsettled by the lack of capitals in the second and fouth lines of the poem, but you may have your reasons for choosing not to capitalise these. Even without looking at your…

FYI, from 'Poets&Writers' online edition

Hi all,

Hope you're doing well, in one way or another.

When Naomi sent me a facebook message today that included a mention of a new feature re: 'found words', it reminded me I hadn't visited Scriberspace recently and it was time to change that. <sheepish look; :)>.

Anyhow, here's some info and possibly interesting links to stories and news in the writing world in general and in the US, from the online edition of 'Poets & Writers' (US) magazine:

fyi/reminder: 'First Tuesday Book Club' on ABC1 tonight

Hi all,

Hope things are going well in and out of the writing world.

Doesn't seem a month ago to me, since the last 'First Tuesday' show on ABC1, but if you enjoy it then tonight's episode offers: guests Colm Toibin and Lionel Shriver, books: 'Reading by Moonlight' by Brenda Walker (new) and Jane Austen's 'Pride & Prejudice' as the classic.

'An empty pavilion'

From a thousand possible lines of sight

This poem refers to and was inspired by the Chinese Gardens in Sydney [the ones in Darlinghurst]. Tonight, though, I wasn't thinking so directly about Wang Wei* or indeed any other T'ang poet and started drafting the poem with aim of developing a theme through several sets of lines.

I might still write those extra lines soon, but t

fyi: new issues of established (US-based) writers' magazines

Hi

Once again, I treated myself to a couple of new issues of established writing-related magazines while out shopping after work last Friday. The contents listed on coveres were just too tempting:

- 'Poets & Writers' print edition has a major focus on writing contests for the May/June '10 issue and crime writer Scott 'Presumed Innocent' Turow writes about new personal projects and how some of them rel

Hi

HI everyone,

Hope you've been enjoying the long weekend in one way or another, even if that's just a feeling of relief that you had some extra time to make headway on a project of some kind or catch up with stuff you'd had to put to one side for a while.

Cheers, and all the best for any and all writing projects underway! :)

Thanks for the friend request, Tim. And no worries about the poem. One of my blogs that I posted, entitled "Mortality" is one of my many attempts at minimal poetry that you might like to have a peek at. :)
As for the well-wishes for a happy Friday and weekend... same to you. Peace. :)
